TempusMUD is a text-based game played online via a telnet connection. There are several ways to connect:
Java Client: Play directly from your browser.

Windows: Click the Start/Windows Icon, select Run, and type:

Unix or MacOS: Open up rxvt, xterm, eterm, or something similar, and type:
telnet tempusmud.com 2020Colored text is used to make your life easier and more interesting. If your terminal emulator does not support the standard ANSI colored text, then seek out one that does. Like color television compared to black and white, it makes a world of difference.

RECOMMENDED: For your fullest enjoyment you should download and use a MUD client. These clients are designed specifically for playing MUDs and enable you to optimize your game play. Mud clients allow you log on easily, set up complicated aliases, perform actions automatically based on specific events, maintain a command history and other helpful features.
There are quite a few clients available and easily found on the web. The most popular MUD clients used by Tempus players are:

GMud - Free, simple, clean, easy MUD client.
JMC - Free, and good for scripts.
ZMud - Free and $ versions, full featured and easy to use, this is the most popular client. It provides a nice graphical user interface and many useful features. Shareware and freeware versions are available.
MAC
Cantrip - a good basic client that runs on Mac OS.
Mudwalker - an in-development open-source MUD client for Mac OS X (OSX).
Rapscallion - A great MUD client for Macintosh users.
