Do you wish to be good, neutral, or evil?
When you create a character, you must align yourself with the forces of good, the forces of evil, or choose the path of neutrality. Clerics and Knights must be either good or evil, or they will suffer great penalties.

Although physical attacks are unaffected, healing and protective magics are usually more powerful when cast by one who is pure of heart. Those whose hearts are filled with darkness are more adept at magics which curse and slay.

Would you like to REROLL or KEEP these attributes?
Your attributes indicate various innate aspects of your character. These are generated semi-randomly. You may regenerate them as often as you like before deciding to keep them. Once kept, however, they may only be altered by training in Tempus itself. Keep in mind that an extremely high stat will be balanced by lower stats.

Strength
Physical strength. Affects skills which require feats of might, such as bashing doors down. Also affects the amount of stuff you can carry.

Intelligence
A combination of book smarts and education. Affects magical aptitude and the rate at which you learn skills

Wisdom
Reflects your character’s understanding of the universe and your place within it. Affects your spell resistence, and the rate at which you gain new skills.

Dexterity
Your agility and quickness. Affects the speed at which you attack and dodge, as well as how nimble you are with your fingers.

Constitution
Your physical health. Contributes to poison resistance and how easily you may take damage.

Charisma
Your projected appearance. This has to do both with how you look and how you carry yourself.

Description

You may enter a description of you character, which is visible to other players when they look at you. When you have completed typing your character’s description, type Enter, @, Enter.

Entering the Game

When you finish creating your character you will be shown the account menu. This menu is where you can select characters to enter the game, create more characters, change your password, and more.

Each of your characters has a number. If this is your first character, the number will be 1. Type 1 and Enter to begin your adventure.

Experience, Leveling, and Remortalization

Your character gains experience through exploration, combat, and grouping with other players. As you earn more experience points you rise in levels. The more levels you earn, the more skills and abilities your character can learn and use. The maximum level a character may become is 49.

When your character reaches level 49, he or she has the option of “remorting.” Upon remorting, your character becomes level 1 again but is also able to take on a second class, such as Ranger/Cyborg. Each time your character remorts, he or she gains a generation. For example, a Ranger who has remorted twice and chosen Cyborg as their second class is known as a Gen 2 Ranger/Cyborg. Your character always keeps their primary class, but the secondary class can change from generation to generation.

Remorts both benefit and are restricted by their dual classes. There is no limit to the amount of times you may remort. Remorts gain more hitpoints, mana, lifepoints, and physical energy per level than mortals do. Remorts also heal and recuperate more quickly. Remorts have other special skills as well, and may use the remort-only projection channel to talk to one another.
