Purchasing a personal house enables you to create your very own shack, tree house, mansion or castle, for a price. Beyond adding your own footprint in the Tempus universe, there are many advantages to buying a house.
First, houses are a wonderful alternative to renting. Typing QUIT inside a house will rent you and all of your items without having to go through the inconvenience of getting an offer, withdrawing money, and renting. When you enter the game again, you will be in your house. If you quit in someone else’s house and are not on their guest list, you will enter the game at your loadroom.
Second, houses provide a useful extension of your inventory. You can keep loads of stuff in your house and hoard it all like a packrat. Keep in mind that you are still paying rent on all of your junk. Be careful though, once you pass a limit of the amount of stuff your house safely hold, you are going to pay two, three, maybe even five times as much rent for the items. So keep an eye on the amount of objects you store and considering purchasing additional rooms.
Third, houses provide a relatively safe place to hang out, count your gold, chat with friends, or plot evil conspiracies against other people and clans. The only people that are able to enter your house are the people on your guest list which can be added or removed from said list by using the HOUSE command.

Houses are currently available for purchase in the cities of Modrian, Skullport, Electro Centralis, and the Astral manse. The immortal in charge of building chooses the exact location within the chosen city.

To make a housing request, send ONE mail to Wish specifically describing what you desire. If you are requesting additional rooms for a house, include the titles of pre-existing rooms with your request. Afterwards, be patient, houses take time.

If it has been over a month since you made your request and have not heard back, that probably means Wish has been out with dancing hula girls and in a drunken stooper lost your mail by accident. Simply send him another.

One house is allowed per account. Fifty items are allowed per room before rent begins to multiply. Rent is deducted from your account balance, so ensure you can afford your stash so as not to lose possessions.
All houses attached to apartment complexes will have searches into the house and an exit out of the house. Houses attached to clans, will have a search into the house but no exits out.
All houses come standard with a 500 lb container that is not movable.

The house <player> command is used to add and remove guests from your house’s guest list. You must be standing in your house to use this command. Only the primary owner of the house (not guests!) may change the guest list.
Using the house command without an argument gives a list of the people currently on your guest list. Typing ‘house <player>’ will add that player to your house list and they will be able to enter your house at any time. Using the same command again will remove them from the guest list. The character does not have to be online to add them to your guest list but they do have to be in the Tempus database.
