What Is Remorting Or Gening
Level 49 is the highest level a mortal can reach in Tempus. However, once you reach this level and get your character into negative experience, you have the option to remort. In order to remort, a character must find one of the three Fates: Klotho, Atropos, and Lachesis. Each one corresponds to whatever generation you are remorting into.
When you create a character, they are known to be in generation 0. Once you remort for the first time, you are then in generation 1. Once you reach level 49 again and get into negative experience, you may remort again into generation 2. This can continue for as long as you like, however not much is known past the 10th generation, or gen 10 for short, except that you will earn a quest point for every time you remort past gen 10.
When a character remorts, he or she will drop back to level 1, but can then take on the characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages of another class. For example, if you remort as a mage you can then learn all the spells and skills that belong to a mage. However, any metal equipment can cause those spells to misfire. For each generation that you attain, your hit points, mana points, movement points, and the rate at which you regenerate them will also increase, depending on your choice of class. You will be able to hit harder and take more damage as well.
In order to find your respective Fate, you must travel to The Scrying Chamber, which is on the fifth floor of the High-Tower of Magic. Look into the cauldron in the center of the room and it will give you a glimpse of the location of your Fate. If you attempt to do this before you reach negative experience you will learn nothing if you gaze into the cauldron. Track down your Fate in any way possible and kill her. She will then drop the Skein of Fate, which appears as a tapestry on the ground. You must enter the tapestry and say, "remort" in order to complete your remortalization. You will then be loaded into your loadroom as a level 1.
But beware! If you are wearing any equipment or carrying anything in your inventory it will be lost. Only implants and gold are safe. And that is the last thing that is required for a character to remort, a gold sacrifice. This increases each time a character remorts. Here is a list of generations and their respective amount of gold sacrifices:
- Mortal remorting to generation 1.........................15mil
- Generation 1 remorting to generation 2...............20mil
- Generation 2 remorting to generation 3...............25mil
- Generation 3 remorting to generation 4...............30mil
- Generation 4 remorting to generation 5...............35mil
- Generation 5 remorting to generation 6...............40mil
- Generation 6 remorting to generation 7...............45mil
- Generation 7 remorting to generation 8...............50mil
- Generation 8, 9, 10.................................................50mil
It is HIGHLY recommended that any player doing this for the first time consult an experienced player before they do this, as it is easier to remort if you have help. Good luck!!
